Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

  • The consultation call is what I like to call the “two-way interview.” It is a confidential opportunity for you to share your situation and ask any questions about how I work and the therapeutic methods I use. It also allows you to get a sense of my personality and what it’s like to talk to me. By the end of the 15 minutes, you should have a good idea of whether or not you want to work with me. The call also helps me understand how I can best meet your needs. If I feel I’m not the right therapist for you, I will provide an appropriate referral to someone else I think could help.

  • An individual therapy session goes for 55 minutes and costs $150. Intake sessions (the first session) costs $195.

I am In-network with many insurance plans. The price can vary depending on your specific insurance plan. Most insurance plans typically cover most or a portion of the therapy sessions, with co-pays or deductibles depending on your plan. To find out the exact coverage, it’s best to contact your insurance provider directly and ask about your mental health benefits. They can provide details on what is covered and any out-of-pocket costs you might incur.

Payment is processed at the beginning of each session, and I accept most major credit cards. Cancellations done with less than 24 hours may be subject to a cancellation fee.

  • If you don’t see your insurance plan listed, please let me know what insurance plan you have. I hope to become paneled with more insurance companies with time.

I can also provide you a superbill. A superbill is a detailed receipt for therapy sessions that you can submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement. It includes information like session dates, fees, and therapy codes. While I don’t bill insurance directly, I’ll provide you with a superbill so you can access your out-of-network benefits if your plan offers them.

  • I understand that therapy is a significant investment in your mental health and well-being. I aim to provide accessible care while maintaining the sustainability of my practice. To accommodate financial needs, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on income and household size.

    Sliding Scale Rates

Sliding scale rates are available based on income and are subject to availability. Below is the adjusted fee schedule:

Annual Household Income - Session Fee

    $0 – $42,000 $75

    $42,001 – $64,000 $100

    $64,001 – $80,000 $125

    $80,001+ $150 (Standard)

    Eligibility Requirements

    • Clients must provide proof of income (e.g., recent pay stub, tax return, or similar documentation).

    • The sliding scale is reviewed annually, and clients must notify me of significant income changes during the year.

    Terms of Use

    • Sliding scale slots are limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

    • Missed appointments or late cancellations can be subject to loss of sliding scale slot.

  • The frequency of therapy sessions can vary depending on your needs and preferences. Generally, most clients attend therapy sessions weekly or biweekly. This schedule allows for consistent support and progress toward your goals. As progress is made or if check-in sessions are needed, monthly sessions may be introduced later on. This flexibility allows us to adjust the frequency of sessions based on your needs and goals. During our initial consultation, we can discuss your specific needs and determine the best frequency for you.

  • Contact Information for Cancellations:
If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please contact me as soon as possible. You may call (leave a voicemail if I do not answer) or text me at 313-451-0484 to notify me of your cancellation.

    Late Cancellations and Rescheduling:

    • Appointments canceled or rescheduled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time will incur a $50 late cancellation fee per session missed.

    • This fee may be waived if the appointment is rescheduled within the same week, depending on my current availability.

    No Call/No Show Policy:

    • If you do not provide any notice and fail to attend your appointment, it will be considered a no call/no show, and you will be charged a $75 fee per session missed.

    • If you are not present within 15 minutes of the start time of your scheduled appointment, the appointment will be automatically canceled and considered a no call/no show.

    • After two consecutive no shows, I, Alaa Hojeij, reserve the right to terminate treatment.

    Medicaid Clients:

    • Clients with Medicaid will not be charged a late cancellation or no show fee.

    • However, attendance is still essential for effective treatment. If you have two late cancellations or no shows, I reserve the right to terminate services.

    • Fees will be collected through the portal or Ivy Pay.

    One-Time Courtesy Exception:
I recognize that unforeseen circumstances occur. Therefore, you may cancel one appointment with less than 24 hours' notice or miss one appointment with no notice without being charged a fee.

    Ongoing Challenges with Attendance:
If you are experiencing difficulty maintaining your scheduled appointments, please let me know as soon as possible. I am happy to discuss potential adjustments or address any barriers to treatment.
