About Me

Hi, I'm Alaa.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, practicing since 2017, with a deep commitment to supporting individuals as they navigate through the complexities of life. As an Arab-American and daughter of immigrants, I know firsthand how culture and generational experiences influence our mental health, which is why I focus on a whole-person approach.

My work is rooted in compassion, cultural humility, and an understanding that mental health doesn’t exist in isolation: it’s shaped by our environments, histories, identities, and the systems we navigate every day. My work is focused on using a whole-person approach. An approach that takes into account not just your individual experiences, but also the cultural, familial, and societal forces that impact your well-being. My therapeutic style includes mindfulness-based therapy, person-centered therapy, ACT, Brainspotting, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive therapy to honor your unique story and provide tools that resonate with your lived reality.

My Specialties

I specialize in ADHD, perinatal mental health, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions.

I take a mindfulness-based approach to treating anxiety and depression, helping clients navigate overwhelming thoughts and emotions with self-compassion and awareness. Rather than battling distress, I guide clients toward accepting their experiences with curiosity while building coping strategies that align with their values. I understand that anxiety and depression don’t just affect mood: they shape relationships, daily life, and self-perception. My goal is to help clients cultivate emotional resilience, shift unhelpful thought patterns, and move forward with clarity and empowerment.

For those working through trauma or deeply ingrained patterns, I incorporate Brainspotting, a powerful tool that helps process unresolved experiences on a deeper level. This approach, alongside mindfulness and trauma-informed care, supports healing beyond just talk therapy, helping you access resilience stored within the body and mind.

As a certified perinatal mental health specialist, I understand the complexities of pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, and motherhood, and how these experiences intersect with identity, family expectations, and generational patterns. Motherhood can bring both profound joy and unexpected grief, and I’m here to hold space for all of it.

For those navigating ADHD, I focus on self-empowerment, executive functioning strategies, and self-compassion, recognizing that traditional productivity standards often don’t align with neurodivergent ways of thinking. Instead of forcing yourself into systems that weren’t built for you, we’ll work together to create approaches that truly fit your life.

Why I Do This Work

Mental health care has long been shaped by Western ideals that don’t always acknowledge the diverse ways people experience healing, community, and resilience. I believe in a decolonized approach: one that respects ancestral wisdom, validates collective healing, and recognizes the impact of systemic barriers on mental well-being. Your struggles don’t exist in a vacuum, and therapy should be a space where your culture, identity, and lived experiences are not just acknowledged but deeply valued. Mental health is not just about the individual: it’s about the communities we come from, the systems we exist within, and the relationships that shape us. My passion for therapy comes from a deep desire to help people find clarity, balance, and self-trust in a world that often demands so much from them.

Outside of therapy, I find grounding in movement, reading, crocheting, and embracing the joys and complexities of motherhood. These practices remind me of the importance of balance, rest, and finding joy in the small moments... things I strive to help my clients cultivate as well. You deserve a space where you are seen, heard, and supported in a way that honors your full self. Let’s work together to help you move forward with strength and purpose.
